History

An area that became known as Cripple Gate Heights was located northeast of Stanton Lake. The name originated from a gate marking the border between a farm and a resort area. Its development began around the turn of the 1900’s.Cripplegate_Crossing_Tippecanoe_Lake_-_14.jpg

Stanton lake is a pristine spring fed lake which provides excellent fishing, swimming and non-motorized boating activities. In accordance with its smaller size, the lake is powerboat free.

Fast forward to the 1980’s. There was an old farmhouse on the south side of Stanton Lake. The current owners decided to build a new house on the site. A lovely 4 bedroom house was built, and they lived there for more than 20 years.

Ultimately, nearly 130 acres of lakefront property was subdivided into 14 lots.  The home which is located on lot 5 retained 20 acres.  The residential development is accessible from Armstrong Road, Lake View Drive and County Road 450 East.  The new residential development incorporated the original main property with the house retaining just under 20 acres. The new development was called Cripplegate Crossing in recognition of the original Cripple Gate development.
